Tuesday Tunes (13)

I've been trying to figure out which Bon Iver song to feature on here. I honestly love so many of them for different reasons, and they all really love me, so it was hard to choose. This one, though. This one is my very favorite. And then I heard this live version and, oh my goodness, you guys...I DIED. I can't stop listening to this live version. It's amazing.

Skinny Love is one of my Very Special Songs, and I actually haven't listened to it in a long time because it gets me too emotional. This song is just too raw, and it breaks my heart over and over every time I hear it. And watching this video and seeing Justin's face when he sings this song...ugh. I am obviously feeling what he wants me to feel when I listen to it.

If you're familiar with this amazing song, you need to check out this gorgeous video.

Skinny Love - Bon Iver

Come on skinny love just last the year
Pour a little salt we were never here
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer

I tell my love to wreck it all
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Right in the moment this order's tall

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And in the morning I'll be with you
But it will be a different kind
And I'll be holding all the tickets
And you'll be owning all the fines

Come on skinny love, what happened here?
Suckle on the hope in light brassieres
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Sullen load is full, so slow on the split

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And now all your love is wasted
And then who the hell was I?
And I'm breaking at the britches
And at the end of all your lines

Who will love you?
Who will fight?
Who will fall far behind?

  1. Lovelovelove this song. So raw and cool. Check out Hannah Trigwell's cover of it on Youtube. Almost better than the original, in my opinion.

  2. I don't know why I thought it would be ok to listen to this at work.
