Laini Taylor Signing

Last week I had the pleasure of attending Laini Taylor's signing near my house. Like I have mentioned once or twice, Daughter of Smoke and Bone was one of my favorite books this year, so I was really excited to hear Laini talk about it, meet her, and get a copy signed.

I love book signings for many reasons, but one major reason is that my buddy Tameka often shows up to fangirl with me. Catching up with Tameka AND meeting and supporting an awesome YA author? Always a good time.

This event was a lot of fun because of more than just Tameka. One of the cashiers was wearing a blue Karou wig and there were blue feather masks and hamsa tattoos. I love when the stores have a little fun with the signings!

I loved hearing how Laini Taylor came up with the idea for this book and getting a little insight into her writing process. I would have loved to just sit down and pick her brain about the world she created and the characters in this book, but spoilers were off limits and we didn't have the time. But I did get to tell her how much I loved it, so that was good enough for me.

See her gorgeous wishbone necklace? I die!

Thanks, Laini, for being so awesome...and for writing such an amazing book!

  1. Oh so cool! I wish I could go to a book signing sometime, but they're never near my house! (Or at least I never hear about it). That must have been lots of fun :)

    Happy Halloween!

  2. When I first read the description for this book, I didn't think I wanted to read it. It just doesn't seem like something I would like. But since you love it so much, I think I will try to read it.

I love when you talk about going to book signings, because that is what got me into going to them. :) I have been to so many good ones this year and really enjoyed them all! So thank you for getting me hooked on them! :)

  6. Aw, the wishbone necklace is so perfect! I was able to get Laini's signature on my DoS&B ARC at ALA, but there was no time to talk about it with her! I would sit next to you while you chatted with Laini and try to soak up some awesome through osmosis. She rocks.

  9. I so wish I would have gone her signing in Redondo last week! I ended up too busy to go, and three days later my friend's dog chewed up my signed ARC of DoS&B :(

  10. Fun! I think she's scheduled to speak at one of the SCBWI-MI conferences next year - that will be my chance! Still need to read the book.

  13. I have heard SO many great things about this book and want to read it SO bad. Friggin school is putting a hardcore damper on my recreational reading :-/
