Lauren Oliver Signing

This past Tuesday I had the opportunity to go see one of my very favorite authors, Lauren Oliver! I'm lucky because I live between LA and San Diego, so authors usually come through one of those cities or the other, but Lauren came right into OC, so I hardly had to travel at all to see her. Lucky me!

Also lucky me because my buddy Crystal was in town from Alabama, so she was able to meet to meet up with me and Tameka for the signing. YAY!

I'm cracking up because Lauren posted this picture on her blog in an update about her signings.

You can see my shiny white hair in the front there (I came straight from the stylist that day, so my color was fresh and she gave me a conditioning treatment...I don't always have shampoo commercial hair) and I'm getting my phone ready to take a picture.

This picture, actually.

I took and deleted a bunch of pictures, so it really makes me laugh that the one that I kept for this post is the one that I got photographed taking. Tee hee.

Anyway, Lauren is awesome. I usually love the authors I meet, but Lauren is one who I couldn't help think that I would totally be friends with. She was so funny and fun, and I really enjoyed hearing her talk about her new book Liesl & Po. I can't wait to read it!

Me and Lauren, who was wearing some nice tall boots, so I didn't have to do my usual fold

I look hideous in this picture, but Tameka and Crystal look so cute I figured I would post it anyway.

It was funny because the three of us got asked a few times what we, three grown-ass women, were doing there for this signing. Not in those exact words, but the implication was definitely there. We let our YA flag fly and said we just love Lauren's books and love YA and are darn proud of it!

  1. Looks to me like you guys were young in this crowd- I see three people with grey hair in that first picture.

Looks like you had a great time!!

  2. Jacki - That was Lauren Oliver's family. :-)

  3. Yay yay! Your hair looks lovely. I've been lucky to meet Lauren Oliver twice at signings now. She is so sweet. And pretty too! Before I Fall is one of my favorite YA books of all time. And there is no shame in your game. YA rocks.

  4. I REALLY hope she makes a stop in ATL for Pandemonium like she said she might be doing.

One of the first things I told Adam about the signing was A)naked murderer across from Justin Bieber and B)the women wondering what we were doing there.

They gave you a pass since you were a teacher but they kept giving me and Tameka these

  5. This signing must have been awesome!

How do you get your hair so white?

  6. Oh, I'm so jealous! I would LOVE to go to a Lauren Oliver book signing!
It looks like you all had a LOT of fun! ^_^

  7. Your hair looks fab. :) Looks like a fun signing!

I have both BEFORE I FALL and DELIRIUM sitting in my TBR pile, but I haven't picked up either yet... time to remedy that, I think! I've heard great things about both, but especially about BEFORE I FALL.

  8. Such a fun signing! Had a blast with you ladies and Lauren!!

    "Are you ladies....teachers?" HA!

  9. Ohmygosh - so jealous! How cool that you got to meet Lauren Oliver! I love her books and am very curious about her new MG.

Looks like you had so much fun! Good for you!

  10. Lauren Oliver is coming here in a couple weeks, but I haven't decided if I'm going to go or not. I loved Before I Fall, but I'm not sure about her latest book. It looks like you had fun though, so maybe I'll go anyway!

I felt really old at Ally Carter's book signing. SHE even made a comment about it! :( I told her I just really liked her books. At least you have an excuse, since you are a teacher!

  11. I am a total fangirl about Oliver. I loved both of her books. :)

  12. I am totally jealous that 3 of my favorite people on the planet are in this last photo and I am not. Boo to 2k miles between us!
