Friday Five (24)

1. Today is my last day of school in 2012! Now I have three glorious weeks off of work. THREE WEEKS.

I'm struggling with this a little because this break is starting a lot earlier on the calendar than it usually does, so I'm a little thrown off. But I'm getting the feeling that this holiday season has sort of crept up on everyone this year, so I guess it's not just me getting blindsided over here.

So, I know this sounds weird, but I'm not mentally prepared to be off for three whole weeks. Something tells me I will manage just fine, though.

2. I don't think I am the writer I need to be to make my NaNoWriMo project work the way I want it to right now, so I'm going to be starting something totally new and fun. I've been working on brainstorming out the plot elements, but I like it a lot already, as sketchy as it is, and I can't wait to get started on it. I was going to take all of December off of writing, but I am getting way twitchy to get going, so I think I'll get an outline going starting on Monday. Wheeee new project!

3. Blogging was a little difficult for me this week. Even putting this short list together has taken way longer than it should. I don't know if it's just the year winding down or what, but I've been struggling with things to share and talk about.

I NEVER run out of things to share and talk about, so this is odd for me.

2011 was a big struggle for me, and aside from signing with Jill, there weren't a ton of highlights*. I think my brain and I are just ready for this year to be over so we can move on. It's in shut down mode already. My BIL posted something on facebook the other day about how people who look forward to the new year are procrastinators, because there are still ____ days left in this year to be awesome and do great things.

I don't think BIL had the same experiences with 2011 as I did.

4. This video made me laugh so much. It was so right on.

I seriously dig through my purse like that on a daily basis.

5. There is still plenty of time to get signed up for the Class of 2011 YA Superlatives Blogfest if you haven't already!
Click on the button for all of the information.  Katy, Alison, Tracey, and I can't wait to see all of your choices!

Have a good weekend, friends! Do something fun with your family or friends this weekend. <3

*Okay, there were more highlights than I realized. Finishing my novel, going to Costa Rica with my family, my bff getting married, Gunner, and lots of other things. I had a lot of struggles. A LOT. But I shouldn't let them outshine the good things. Maybe I'll post about my 2011 highlights later so I leave this rough year on a good note.

  1. Oh man, that video is HILARIOUS.

  2. Yay for starting something new!

  3. I'm so jealous of your 3 weeks off! I have 11 days off starting a week from today so I'm pretty excited about that. I'm hoping to get a lot of revising done in between eating/hanging out with family and friends.

I haven't signed up for the blogfest because I want to take a blog break that week, but maybe I'll be able to pre-schedule it. I'll try!

Have fun with your new project!

  4. You wrote: "I don't think I am the writer I need to be to make my NaNoWriMo project work the way I want it to right now." That is so wise! I have been beating myself up for months for putting aside a project that I'm not capable of doing right at this point. I feel better after reading that. :)
Hope 2012 is a fantastic year for you!

  5. Yay for a new project!!!

I hope 2012 will be a much brighter year for deserve it!

  6. I've watched that video so many times it's embarrassing, and it's still funny Every Single Time...

  7. I agree with Rebecca on the wiseness (not really a word?) of stepping away from your NaNo project until you're really ready to tackle it. No sense in making yourself crazy until you're in the right mindset!

And I'm with you: Bring on 2012!

  8. WOW! I am so jealous of your three weeks! And I have two. ENJOY!!! I know you deserve it!
