Bookanistas: Time Between Us Cover Love

Back in December of 2010 I went to the Big Sur Children's Writing Workshop hosted by the Andrea Brown Literary Agency. During the weekend I worked with two different critique groups, made up of five writers and one agent each. I got a lot out of both of my groups, but there was really something special about my first group. Every single one of us had something awesome, and we were all so excited about all of the pages we were sharing with each other. We bonded in those few days, and I was in awe of all of the talent gathered around our little table.

One of my favorites in that first group was a YA time travel romance. I was HOOKED after reading the first chapter in critique and I wanted more, more, more! Well, I am thrilled to say that since our Big Sur workshop, that YA time travel romance sold, it's coming out in October, and, as of yesterday, it has an absolutely gorgeous cover that I am so excited to share with you all. (You know, just in case you haven't seen it yet.)

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett’s unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna’s life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility. As their relationship deepens, they face the reality that time might knock Bennett back where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate—and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.
Fresh, exciting, and deeply romantic, Time Between Us is a stunning and spellbinding debut from an extraordinary new talent in YA fiction.

Can I tell you how excited I am for this?! Even if I had no idea how awesome Tamara was, and even if I hadn't had any contact with this book at Big Sur, Time Between Us would still be super high on my list of anticipated 2012 debuts. Trust me...this one is going to be epic, you guys. (Here's Tamara's Twitter and facebook if you want to stalk her like I do. Or you can not be a stalker and just add the book on Goodreads.)
It's already up for pre-order on Amazon and B&N...you know my pre-order has already been placed.

  2. Oooh, sounds good! So fun, I started a time travel YA a couple of years ago that I hope to finish after my current wip is done. I had a love/hate relationship with time travel all my life. It's one of those that my husband and I like to talk to death about and pick apart movies/books with it. The irony is that we always try to discuss how "realistic" it is. LOL crazy right!? I can't wait to discuss this with him! :)

Oh, and that workshop sounds amazing!! I'd love to attend something like that!!

    1. I'm the same way with time travel. I love it, but I love to dissect it, too. I'd love to write a time travel story, but I think I would drive myself insane!

If you get a chance you should do Big Sur FOR SURE. I loved it.

  6. *adds to Goodreads* I love the premise and the cover is gorgeous.

Big Sur is on my list of writerly things I'd love to do sometime. I'm not sure when I'll be able to afford it, since I'm across the country, but I'll keep hoping/saving! I'm going to check out your recap. :)

    1. Yeah, Big Sur isn't cheap, but if you can swing it it is SO worth it. One of the best writing events out there, because it's all about workshopping and not just listening to lectures. Awesome experience.

    1. YES! Keep an eye on it! I only read the first chapter, and I'm sure it has changed a lot, and even then I was like OMG YES MORE PLEASE. Can't wait to read the whole thing.

    2. You'll be surprised how little it changed. That's because I workshopped the heck out of it at Big Sur! :)

  9. Jessica! Thank you so much. I've had a smile on my face all week thanks to all your kind words.

I am so glad we ended up at the same little table in that same *freezing* room. ;) You know how much I loved YOUR story, and a year later, I'm still jonesin' for more. I can't wait to read it again!

And... I have to second your thoughts on Big Sur. As you said, it is an investment, but in my opinion it was so worth it. And I had just signed with my agent the month before, so I was there purely for the education. Great writers, great stories, great guidance.

Thanks again for all the cover and book love this week, Jessica. You're amazing.
