My Jan Plan

You know what I don't want to talk about? I don't want to talk about the fact that I go back to work today. *shudder*

Three weeks is too long to have off work. Don't get me wrong, I loved every single second of my winter break. Every second. That's the problem, though. After three weeks off, you really forget what it's like to be at work. You get so into "being off" mode that you totally forget what "being on" mode felt like at all.

I know, I know...cry me a river, Jess, with your three weeks off. But, really, do I start counting down to the end of the year now? Or do I just start small and count down to Spring Break? A girl needs something to look forward to.

Anyway.

I had a super productive break. I finished my major revision on IN REAL LIFE, and it's with some readers right now who are hopefully telling me all the magical ways I can smack it into submission and turn it from meh into a-meh-zing. Then more tinkering, some beta readers, and it's off to my agent at the end of the month. *breathes into paper bag*

It's kinda perfect that the amazing Christa Desir is hosting The Jan Plan, a, well, a plan to finish a project, any project, in the month of January.

Because I actually have a Jan Plan...get IN REAL LIFE as finished as it can be and sent to Agent Jill by Jan 31st. I can do it, right? I mean, with being back at work and teaching a brand new book and and lesson planning and grading and my January MFA packet of work due, right? *breathes into paper bag again*

I think this is the best way to kick off my SURE TO BE AWESOME 2013 - have a solid plan in the very first month and commit to getting it done. I need you guys to keep me going, though. I have a lot of work ahead of me in the coming month.

What does your January look like? How are you making positive changes for this coming year?

How was your first day back?
My JanPlan is to finish my revision. After PitchWars I got some great feedback and it´s back to revising. It´s tough and I´m under a difficult schedule to do it. But it will happen. Just hope my hubby remembers me after January is over :P

  3. You can do it, Jess!!!!! My Jan Plan is to finish my revisions and send it back to the agent who requested them. It's been 11 months since she requested the R&R and a few months ago she asked where it was. LOL.... I've been learning how to revise thats what ;-)

  6. I admire all that you are doing, Jess. I'm almost in the same boat with you. Subtract full-time job for full-time Mommy duties. Let's keep moving forward. I have a feeling great things await! :)

  7. You are going to kick January's butt!
I'm hyperventilating, too. How am I supposed to do this new job and revise a MS and start getting ready to move? Cloning. The answer is cloning myself.
If I figure out how, I'll let you know.

  8. You can do it, Jess! I'm slightly selfish in my wish for you to finish this book because I'm dying to read it, but yeah... Let's make 2013 awesome. This is so your first step. Best of luck with the Jan Plan!

  12. You can do it!! I hope your first day back wasn't too bad, and that you get back into the swing of things quickly.

I'm putting some finishing touches on my manuscript before Pitch Wars and also thinking about my next WIP. Trying to make my 2013 word - bravery - happen!

  13. Try 3 months off...maternity leave. It's almost impossible to get back into work.

I don't know how I missed it, but grats on the agent! I've been out of the loop since September.
